River Rhymney Restoration Plan (Completed Date: Jan 2023)

JBA was appointed to undertake catchment and process based geomorphological and ecological assessments to identify system pressures leading to WFD failure within the Rhymney River. Nature based opportunities were identified at catchment and reach level to scope and prioritise future river restoration. Rebecca was the lead geomorphologist and project manager.

Tattiscombe floodplain reconnection (Completed Date: Jan 2022)

JBA was appointed to undertake a feasibility assessment for floodplain reconnection of a river valley in Exmoor National Park. Rebecca was the project manager and lead geomorphologist. Desk and site based assessments were undertaken, followed by optioneering, hydraulic modelling and, subsequently, detailed design development.

Fowlea Brook restoration design (Completed Date: Jan 2022)

JBA was appointed to develop a river restoration design of a straightened and highly modified urban river. A process-based approach was taken to develop the detailed design, including site walkovers and geomorphic modelling. Rebecca was the lead geomorphologist and project manager and provided on-site geomorphic support during construction in 2022.

Rebecca is a chartered senior geomorphologist at JBA specialising in fluvial geomorphological assessments, river restoration, hydraulic modelling and providing advice on wider catchment management (including nature based solutions and sediment management). Rebecca is a team leader and has strong experience leading and supporting teams in the design and delivery for geomorphological and restoration projects across the UK. Rebecca is a co-trainer of a bespoke Geomorphology course, run as part of JBA’s training programme.
