River Thame Conservation Trust are now recruiting for a Chief Executive Officer

(part time 4 days/week)

Are you an experienced manager with a passion for nature conservation and the skills and knowledge to lead this innovative River Trust as it grows and develops? Are you an all-rounder who can happily switch from producing budget spreadsheets to giving an engaging presentation to a community group in the same day? Can you communicate well at all levels, developing fruitful relationships and inspiring colleagues, partners, potential funders and landowners with a creative approach to making things happen on the ground to improve biodiversity and water quality in our river catchment? If so, you could be just the person we’re looking for! An exciting opportunity has arisen for a senior manager to join us as our new Chief Executive and lead the Trust in the next stage of our development.

The role is office based in Oxford and our river catchment spreads across Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire north of Aylesbury and includes part of the Chilterns to the SE.

We are a small and friendly dedicated team of freshwater biologists and chemists.  We develop and carry out a wide range of interesting on the ground projects with local communities and landowners following the Catchment Based Approach (CaBA) to catchment management and working towards Water Framework Directive improvements for the River Thame. We work closely with the Environment Agency, Thames Water, our catchment co-hosts, The Freshwater Habitats Trust and some wonderfully engaged and supportive landowners across our catchment. We have a thriving volunteer programme, managing citizen science and other data gathering and analysis to monitor change in our river and to report to funders.

The package: salary £42, 000- 48,000 pa pro rata subject to skills and experience, flexible working, 6% company pension, 30 days pro rata holiday (annual leave and public holidays), pleasant office surroundings within Bury Knowle Park, Oxford. (We’ll also provide some wellies!). This post is part time 4 days/ week and initially a two-year fixed term contract with the intention to continue the post subject to funding.

Applications: please see the full job description and person specification and if you think you fit the bill, send a current CV (max 2 sides A4 ) with a cover sheet (max 2 sides A4) outlining how your experience and expertise meet the job requirements we’ve outlined and why you’d like to work for RTCT to louise@riverthame.org

For any queries on the role, call Louise Bowe on 07725 193326

Closing date: 4pm Sunday 6 January 2019

Interviews: Friday 11 January 2019 in Oxford (there might be some flexibility for suitable candidates)
