Yesterday I attended the RRC member site visit to Garrell Burn in North Lanarkshire, Scotland. Despite heavy rain in the early morning, the sun came out and we had sun the whole rest of the visit! The mornings rain was perfect to help show off the work that has been done at Garrell Burn! |

Last week some of the RRC team attended an RRC Member site visit led by Vik from Nene Rivers Trust. It had been an exciting few weeks for Vik and the team as River Nene Regional Park became Nene Rivers Trust at the launch at the start of the month! Website link here. |

Last week I attended an RRC Member site visit to the Smithills Estate in Bolton. The visit was lead by Umar Awan (Woodland Trust), Mike Norbury (Mott MacDonald) and Dave Brown (Environment Agency) who have all been involved at some stage of this project. The sun stayed shining on us the whole day, as a large group of 24 attendees made their way around the site. |

On Tuesday 21st June, I represented the RRC at the 7th annual ‘Temporary Rivers & Streams Meeting’ organised by Prof. Rachel Stubbington (Nottingham Trent University) and Dr Judy England (Environment Agency). This annual meeting aims to unite academic and practitioner scientists globally undertaking research or management actions on temporary rivers and streams – i.e. watercourses ceasing to flow periodically.

8 members attended a fantastic site visit to the Allt Lorgy in Cairngorm on Wednesday 13th April 2022, the first since the beginning of the pandemic! This project won the UK River Prize in 2020 for reach scale, process-based river restoration resulting in a self-sustaining system, and now provides an important demonstration site for landowners, Fisheries Boards and students. |
