Projects:
The Dighty Burn in Dundee was historically heavily used for milling and was degraded through realignment, floodplain disconnection and re-sectioning. Sally led the feasibility study and concept design of ambitious restoration measures to revive the burn, reinstate geomorphological processes, enhance biodiversity and engage and reconnect the local community.
The Brock Burn and Capelrig/Auldhouse burns in Glasgow are degraded by geomorphological impacts and poor habitat quality. Sally led the feasibility study and concept design of restoration measures to revive the burns, enhance biodiversity and reconnect the local communities. Constraints include extensive fly tipping, utilities flooding and urban infrastructure.
Sally conducted an NFM study of the Glen and Westquarter burns. She facilitated collaboration between Falkirk Council, SEPA, and the primary landowner, Callendar Estate and supported the development of a Water Environment Fund project. Following this, she assisted in designing leaky barriers that were then built on estate land.
