River Breamish (Till) SSSI-SAC Restoration (Completed: March 2026)

Planning and design lead including construction supervision for re-meandering, channel enhancements and floodplain reconnections of more than 3 km and 40 ha of the River Breamish in Northumberland, part of the River Till and tributaries SAC / SSSI, restoring the river after centuries of engineered realignment.

Upper Breamish (Till) SSSI-SAC Restoration (Completed: )

River restoration and landscape recovery for one of the most ambitious nature recovery schemes currently underway in the UK, across a combined estate area of 1600 ha with more than 60 km of watercourses.

River Eye SSSI Restoration at Melton Mowbray (Completed: April 2025)

Planning and design lead including construction supervision for restoration of 1000 m and 2.5 ha of River Eye SSSI watercourses and floodplains at Melton Mowbray. Re-meandering, and reinstatement of gravel bars, pools, riffles, margins and fish habitats within an inset floodplain with a wetlands complex and backwaters.

AECOM’s Fluvial Geomorphology and River Restoration lead and Chartered Geomorphologist with academic and consultancy experience across the UK, Canada and New Zealand. Delivery of river basin scale nature recovery planning, to landscape and reach scale restoration design and construction. Integrating geomorphology, ecology, engineering and flood management by harnessing natural processes for rivers to restore and regulate themselves. Multiple projects that have been publicised in national press and have won national awards.
