Improved access and restored habitats at Morden Hall Park!
A brand new boardwalk has been installed and is now open at Morden Hall Park, allowing visitors to take a journey through the wetlands and get up close to nature as never before. Coming soon in 2017 there will also be equipment available to loan for free, allowing you to explore the creatures and plants with binoculars, pond dipping kits and ID guides!
The Bedfordshire Rural Communities Charity (BRCC) is encouraging greater volunteer input into surveying and monitoring works along river environments. With Environment Agency funding and contributions from those involved, BRCC, the Greensand Trust and the Wildlife Trust BCN have been developing a Volunteer River Warden Scheme which will be launched next month focused on two areas to begin with - Renhold Brook, Bedfordshire; and in the Potton and Gamlingay areas.

Last week The One Show featured a short report on the hidden rivers of the UK. Examples included the London river network, and the deculverted River Roch in Rochdale, as well as the Swindale Beck in Cumbria.

On Wednesday, December the 14th , APLYSIA was awarded the 1st place in the Innovation Category- Solutions for Water Management of the Ecology Prize 2016, with the project ReNaturalize. The winning project ReNaturalize is an innovation initiative from APLYSIA in river restoration that took place in the Atlantic tropical forest in the state of Espírito Santo- Brazil. The project applied a British river restoration technique where large wood was installed in the river channel as a way to improve river processes.

From Bath and North East Somerset Council: Bath & North East Somerset Council is proposing to allocate up to £150,000 to support projects to improve the river corridor in Bath over the next year.
