Environment Agency are seeking an experienced technical fisheries officer to join their busy fisheries, biodiversity and geomorphology team in Herts, North London. The role includes providing technical advice on a range of internal and external projects, consents and permit applications, including live fish movement permits, flood risk activity permits and pre-development applications for large scale infrastructure projects, all of which may impact on the fisheries environment and resource. Identifying and delivering operational actions which help maintain, improve and develop fisheries and deliver water framework outcomes for the area is a priority. The role will operate in a catchment area where engagement with a range of statutory and non statutory partners, including rod licence paying customers, is critical to reputational management & outcome delivery. Responding to environmental incidents and out of hours working is a requirement.

The post is based at Welwyn Garden City & the candidate will work closely with other environmental experts across the area.
