Are you motivated to make a difference in the field of river restoration and environmental management? We are looking for an experienced individual to manage and deliver independent technical specialist advice, and a training programme to a broad range of statutory agency, public, private and third sector organisations.

The River Restoration Centre (RRC) is the UK’s independent, information and advisory centre, supporting all aspects of river restoration, habitat enhancement and best practice river management. We are funded through UK environmental agency agreements, project work and our programme of events. We work to ensure UK river restoration programmes and projects are planned, implemented and evaluated with technical confidence and rigor, and are implemented by practitioners trained to a high degree of understanding and competency.

Your main duties will be: to provide expert advice and support, delivery of option assessments, restoration planning and scoping of projects, the design and delivery of training courses and the coordination of an international conference on river restoration science. You will also work on the RRC’s other activities: developing guidance and communicating best practice, applying for grants, supporting project bids and developing practical decision support tools for river restoration. The position will involve travel to locations across the UK, Ireland, and occasionally abroad.

You will have a relevant masters level qualification (such as physical geography, geomorphology or similar) and extensive relevant work experience in a river management or restoration related position. With a detailed understanding of river processes, management and restoration, you will have developed and delivered training courses and workshops, and understand the differing needs of public, private, third-sector and local volunteer groups.  You will have the ability to write complex technical and/or scientific reports as well as simple non-technical summaries and guidance tailored to a specific audience.

You will be able to quickly integrate into a small busy team of highly motivated individuals sharing a common purpose: protecting rivers, restoring natural processes, communicating knowledge and guiding best practice.

For an informal discussion, please contact Marc Naura, RRC Science and Technical Manager, on +44 (0)1234 752979 or (E); rrc@theRRC.co.uk

The River Restoration Centre (RRC) is based at Cranfield.  Your employment contract will be with Cranfield University under a long-standing service agreement, whilst your role is directly working for The River Restoration Centre ltd.

You must apply through the Cranfield University application process HERE. In addition, you will need to upload a covering letter explaining why you would like to work at RRC. Please quote reference number 3235.

Closing date for receipt of applications is 5th January 2020.

Interviews will be held on Monday 20th January 2020.
