The River Restoration Centre (RRC) is looking for an experienced senior manager who can drive forward excellence in the field of river restoration. You will be leading a team advising on the restoration of natural processes and habitat, floodplain reconnection, NBS, etc. Work will be locally and nationally, in the UK and Ireland at the interface between practice, science and policy.

About the Role
RRC is looking for a highly experienced individual to become part of the senior management team and manage and deliver expert technical advice, reports, guidance, assessments and training to a broad range of statutory agency, public, private and third sector organisations. You will manage the project team and its resources and have responsibility for delivery of the technical team workload. You will also build strategic working relationships, bids, grants and income generation. You will contribute to developing guidance, communicating best practice and developing practical decision support tools for river restoration. The position will involve travel to locations across the UK, Ireland, and occasionally abroad.
 
About You
You will have a relevant postgraduate qualification (such as physical geography, ecology, geomorphology or similar) and both comprehensive understanding of, and wide-ranging experience of, river processes, river management and restoration. You will have proven skills in income generation and project management, budgeting and resource allocation, line/team management and staff development/coaching experience. You will be able to quickly integrate into a leadership role in a busy team of highly motivated individuals sharing a common purpose and values: understanding river form and function, restoring natural processes, communicating evidence-based knowledge and sharing best practice.
 
About RRC
RRC is an independent, not-for-profit information and advisory centre, supporting all aspects of river restoration, habitat enhancement and best practice river and catchment management. Our office is based at Cranfield University in Bedfordshire and we are funded through UK environmental agency collaborative agreements, funded projects, advisory work and our programme of events. We work to ensure UK river restoration programmes and projects are planned, implemented and evaluated with a high degree of technical confidence and rigor, and are implemented by practitioners trained to a high degree of understanding and competency.

The River Restoration Centre (RRC) is hosted at Cranfield University.  Your employment contract will be with Cranfield University under a long-standing Service Agreement, whilst your role is directly working for The River Restoration Centre ltd. Cranfield’s Working Arrangements Framework provides RRC staff with the opportunity to flexibly combine on-site and remote working, where job roles allow, balancing the needs of staff, clients and partners.
