We are looking for enthusiastic and inspiring staff to run our innovative new Watercress and Winterbournes Landscape Partnership Scheme. The scheme has received a grant of £1.93 million from the National Lottery Heritage Fund to work with communities and landowners to restore, care for and celebrate seven of our globally rare chalk streams.

You will be part of a new team that will deliver the Watercress and Winterbournes Landscape Partnership Scheme from now until end March 2025, delivering 20 different projects. The team of six people will all be employed by one of the two key partners – Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust or Wessex Rivers Trust.
More information about Watercress and Winterbournes can be found here

Position
This role will deliver wetland habitat restoration, fish passage improvements, natural flood management, sediment pathway mitigation and other capital works for the duration of the scheme. This will be achieved by both managing contractors and direct delivery with volunteers. The role will also scope and develop projects for delivery in the latter part of the scheme; preparing detailed designs, commissioning and/or undertaking protected species surveys, submitting permit and licence applications and procuring contracts.

This role will also shape and run a Chalk Stream Champions training scheme, focussing on developing volunteering skills that will help local communities to look after their chalk streams during the duration of the scheme and beyond.

The post will be based at the Wessex Rivers Trust office near Salisbury, at times working in the Watercress and Winterbournes satellite office near Winchester and with frequent home working expected. This is a temporary contract until 31st March 2025.
