Help plan the future – join your local flood and coastal committee

We are looking for new members to join the Thames Regional Flood and Coastal Committee (RFCC). The Committee has an important role in deciding local priorities for flood risk management. Being a member of an RFCC is an exciting opportunity to play an important role in guiding flood risk management activities within catchments and along the coast.

We are looking for 2 enthusiastic new Members to help manage flood risk throughout the south east and make a real difference to people’s lives and the environment we live in.

Through the delivery of the National and Thames RFCC flood risk strategies we are looking to: Deliver practical and innovation actions that help to bolster resilience to flood and coastal change in local places. Make greater use of nature-based solutions to improve resilience to both floods and droughts. Maximise opportunities to work with stakeholders to be resilient to flooding and coastal change. Develop adaptive pathways in local places that equip practitioners and policy makers to better plan for future flood and coastal change, adapting to future climate hazards.

Applications are welcome from anybody with an active interest in flood risk management, from a wide range of backgrounds. We are also particularly interested in people specialising in:

  • Green Finance
  • Net Zero
  • Ground Water

Our members are all appointed as impartial individuals in their own right and not as representatives of any particular organisation or catchment partnership area. We are fully committed to having a diverse and inclusive committee that reflects the communities we serve. We make all public appointments on merit, following a fair, open and transparent process.

So if you are interested in helping to make a difference in your local area then do get in touch to find out more or request an application pack.

The closing date for applications is 25th February 2021 and interviews will take place on the 10th and 12th March. For more information, please contact Karen Jouny: thamesrfcc@environment-agency.gov.uk or telephone 07788 304608
