Due to our continued growth, we are looking for a talented and motivated Environmental Advisor/Scientist to join our team, with some knowledge of environmental legislation and regulations. Some experience in surface water management, water quality assessment and monitoring, material and waste management, noise and vibration monitoring, and an awareness of ecology and ecological issues, including invasive species, will also be required. This position provides an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to further their career and gain more experience in these specialist markets.

Roles and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting senior staff to manage project deliverables and budgets
  • Preparation and submission of environmental authorisations including registrations, exemptions, licences and permits
  • Liaisons with Clients, Regulators and Stakeholders
  • Site work, including surveying, monitoring, sampling (water, vibration noise), Environmental Clerk of Works supervision and site auditing
  • Preparation of management plans, including Surface Water Management Plans, Construction Environment Management Plans, Site Waste Management Plans, INNS management plans
  • The production of reports and working method statements
  • Preparation and delivery of toolbox talks

Essential Skills / Experience:

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience, preferably in an environmental consultancy or as an Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW), particularly on large civil engineering project
  • Degree in Ecology/Environmental Management or related subject
  • Good knowledge and experience of environmental and sustainability managements systems, such as ISO 14001
  • Ability to manage own time to ensure that work is delivered on time and to the required standards
  • A full UK driving licence
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Experience in Microsoft office (word, excel PowerPoint)
  • Excellent communications skills – written and verbal

Desirable Skills / Experience:

  • Ecological or Environmental Clerk of Work membership or accreditation
  • CSCS Card holder – training can be supplied if required
  • PTS trained – training can be supplied if required
  • Rail network experience
  • GIS knowledge and experience
  • A member CIEEM, IEMA or equivalent
