Role Purpose

This is an exciting opportunity to work on NRW’s growing River Restoration Programme at a national level across Wales. This new role will help to collate information and opportunities for river restoration activities as well as developing and disseminating case studies and best practice to demonstrate this valuable work, with particular emphasis on how it meets NRW’s Sustainable Management of Natural Resources duty. The role will prepare and help deliver NRW policy, programmes, plans, strategies and guidance related to river restoration. The role will develop technical assessments and tools in anticipation of funding opportunities to carry out river restoration work which it is anticipated that this role will input to. You will work with other members of the Freshwater Ecosystems and Fisheries Management team, the Biodiversity and Resilience of Ecosystems group and engage with a range of operational teams and technical specialists across NRW as well as professional partners and externalstakeholders.

Qualifications and Skills

You will have a degree level qualification in a relevant subject area or the equivalent level of knowledge and will have, will be working towards, or willing to work towards, relevant professional qualifications.

You will have subject matter expertise within a defined area that enables you to provide guidance to others.

You may not be a subject matter expert in all areas but will have a sound understanding and appreciation of the work and the wider benefits it can provide.

You will have good literacy, numeracy and communication skills including well developed customer facing skills.

You will have analytical skills that enables you to process and analyse technical information.

You will have good inter-personal and influencing skills and be able to develop and sustain good working relationships.
