THE ENVIRONMENT AGENCY AND THE WATER HUB RIVER BASIN PLANNING MINI-HACKATHON:

The Challenge

The Environment Agency want to improve the environment and, in partnership with The Water Hub and the Digital Catapult NETV, are seeking creative and revolutionary ideas for how environmental information can be better shared and communicated to deliver local action.

Why now?

In partnership with local communities and stakeholders, the Environment Agency are currently reviewing and updating their River Basin Management Plans, which set out how rivers will be protected and improved. The Environment Agency provides data and evidence to inform these plans and has identified a need to:

  • Engage and empower more people to contribute to River Basin Management Planning - making it meaningful for local people
  • Get more value from Environment Agency data by linking it with other open data sources
  • Build from existing Environment Agency resources and platforms

The event

The purpose of the event is to bring together end-users, technical experts and potential solutions providers to explore the challenge and rapidly develop ideas that could help to transform how environmental information could be better shared and communicated to deliver local action.

The event is FREE to attend and will take place at Sunderland Software City (SR1 1PG) over 2 days from Wednesday 14th March 2018 from 09:00 – Thursday 15th March 2018 closing at 12:00 GMT
