Dam Removal Europe International Seminar 2022

Date:
Thursday, May 19, 2022 - 09:00 to Saturday, May 21, 2022 - 17:00
Location:
Lisbon, Portugal

Finally, after two years without being able to meet, we will get together face to face in Lisbon and learn from very special speakers from countries like Estonia, France, Spain, Finland, USA, Portugal, UK and more, stemming from different entities (ministries of environment, water agencies, river basin authorities, city halls, NGOs, universities, etc.)

This CONNECTED RIVERS: International Seminar on scaling up dam removal as river restoration tool in Europe is the 7th DRE international seminar edition and it will be formed by 2 days of presentations and one day of fieldtrip. On May 19th and 20th we will focus on new dam removal policies developed in Europe, how some countries have scaled up removing dams so quickly, funding mechanisms available, the importance of good communication strategies and how social opposition is tackled by different places. On May 21st, those who wish to do so could join our field trip, visiting a potential dam removal/river restoration site in Portugal.

At the same time, this international event in Lisbon will be the Global Hub of World Fish Migration Day 2022, it will connect and promote local events happening around the globe those 3 days, including special activities online that we will prepare and make sure to announce ahead of time so anyone can join us!
