Our Open Citizen River Habitat Survey (cRHS) Course is now available for anyone to access at any time. This introductory, self-guided course provides a foundation in the Citizen RHS method and is ideal preparation before attending the full training.

The Citizen River Habitat Survey (cRHS) was developed by the River Restoration Centre in 2021 with support from Natural Resources Wales. It is based on the established River Habitat Survey (RHS) method and has been adapted into a citizen science format, enabling members of the public to carry out surveys after completing a short training course.

The open course is perfect if you want to:

  • Gain an overview of cRHS before booking formal training
  • Refresh your skills and build confidence
  • Explore whether cRHS is relevant to your work or organisation
  • Learn at your own pace, with no enrolment required
