Bulletins
The Summer Special Edition Bulletin includes the call for abstracts for the 17th RRC Annual Network Conference, which will be held in Blackpool. There is also a fitting tribute to Nigel Holmes in a report on Gunthorpe Stream and we introduce two new staff members.
This month we look at two new books, Jeremy Purseglove's Taming the Flood and Mark Everard's River Habitats for Coarse Fish. Elsewhere the European Commission have released a report on ecosystem services and biodiversity and the RRC has added over 400 projects to the UK Projects Map.
This month we look back at the conference which over 250 delegates attended. The outputs are now available online for everyone to view on our conference page. Other items include an update on the Catchment Partnership Action Fund and a look back at our most recent Training Course.
With less than a week to go we look forward to the 16th RRC Annual Network Conference and the 2015 UK River Prize. Elsewhere, RESTORE has been nominated for the best LIFE Environment/ Information Project 2014 - We need your votes! The UK River Prize finalists are included in this month's edition. The overall winner will pick up the Nigel Holmes Trophy on the 19th of May at the RRC's Annual Network Conference. Elsewhere Simon Whitton leaves the RRC, the Channel Management Handbook is published and bookings open for the next RRC Training Course.
This month's edition looks at our 2015 Training Course and Site Visit programme which features events in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. There are reports, interviews and news items from the Environment Agency, SEPA and NRW as well as a blog post from Fiona Bowles, the RRC Chair.
In this special edition we celebrate 20 years of the RRC with an article which looks at how things have changed since 1994. The 2015 UK River Prize has also been announced, you can now apply to win the Nigel Holmes Trophy later this year. Other items include an article on the Mulkear Life Project, a report on WEF's progress and some stats from the Catchment Restoration Fund.
In this month's issue we look at the EU's Natural Water Retention Measures and a WWF report on the state of English chalk streams. The winner of the 2014 IRF European Riverprize was announced this month in Vienna. Also, the Rivers Trust will hold their Annual Conference at the end of November and there is a great article on the life and work of Nigel Holmes. Other items include highlights from the European River Restoration Conference 2014, RiverWiki project of the month and some cool facts from the RRC's restoration project inventory.
The 2014 European Riverprize is held this month and the RRC visited Malmesbury, Norfolk, Sweden and Northern Ireland. Elsewhere the River Basin Management Plan was opened for consultation and the RRC announced its new Flickr account.
