The first phase of the Catchment Restoration Fund is awarded to 29 projects in England as part of the governments WFD programme. A RESTORE workshop was held in Denmark which looked at linking wetland, floodplain and river restoration.

A restoration project on the River Wandle in Croydon is going to rejuvenate a local park. Elsewhere the Environment Agency looks at "Keeping Rivers Cool".

The International River Foundation announce that there will be a European river prize held in 2013. In other news Joanne Evason leaves the RRC after 6 years.

A habitat improvent project on the River Welland gets underway and the UK flood risk research strategy is launched.

The Wild Trout Trust Awards were held with the projects on the River Itchen and Midsomer Norton being joint winners. This month the Government also published the Water White Paper - Water For Life.
