Introducing Alex

With an undergraduate degree in Geography, and having recently completed my Masters degree in River Environments and their Management, I have a strong interest in water science, environmental conservation and sustainability. I am excited to start working in the environmental industry, focusing especially on river systems, as these are essential habitats for biodiversity, ecology and recreation.

River restoration is a topic which I have been able to study throughout my geographical studies, including field trips to observe restoration techniques in practice. Also, I was lucky enough to attend the RRC Annual Conference as part of my postgraduate course, and I found it was interesting, organised and informative.

Working with the River Restoration Centre as a River Restoration Assistant, I have the opportunity to help with the planning of the conference, as well as supporting the Information Officer, and updating key information and the National River Restoration Inventory (NRRI).

I am looking forward to meeting and working with new people with a similar interest in river environmental management, and hope to enhance my knowledge of river systems. I’m interested to learn of the new, innovative approaches to restoration, and work alongside the industry experts at RRC.
