You will be visiting two nearby schemes, both built on marginal farmland. The Confluence is an area of wetland nestled between two rivers. The second site is on a dairy farm. Two ditches, designed to drain water quickly, have been replaced with a meandering stream that is largely left to find its own path.10:30 arrival for an 11:00 start. Finish 15:30. LIFE WADER, River Breamish Restoration Project

In one of the largest river restoration projects in the UK, Tweed Forum has been working closely with Harehope Estate to reinstate natural processes on the River Breamish in Northumberland. 10:30 arrival for 11:00 start. Finish at 15:30. Exact meeting and parking locations to be confirmed. Bookings now open. There are only 15 places for the visit, early booking recommended.

The aim at Holnicote is to restore as much natural function as possible to the river catchments on the estate. They will be able to show people the main river Stage 0 floodplain reconnection site on the Aller as well as a ‘fresh’ floodplain reconnection on a tributary of the Aller that they have just completed upstream. 10:30 arrival for 11:00 start. Finish at 15:30. Exact meeting and parking locations to be confirmed.

Tweed Forum, project managers for the Eddleston Water project will lead a visit to explore the restoration work implemented and the extensive monitoring. We will be visiting some key sites, including examples of temporary flood storage ponds and run off attenuation features, extensive riparian tree planting, remeandering of the main river channel. 10:30 arrival for 11:00 start.
