Kevin developed the concept, led the outline and detailed design and supervised the construction of this novel restoration scheme at the headquarters of Sussex Wildlife Trust at Woodsmill, Sussex. He has also supported monitoring through Queen Mary University of London and led many site visits to disseminate the results including at the RRC Conference in 2017.
The Norton Bridge Area improvements scheme has removed a rail bottleneck at the existing Norton Bridge Junction on the West Coast Mainline; bringing an increase in capacity and reliability. This involved the construction of 10 kilometres of new railway as well as the creation of large-scale landscape features including four river realignments. This is a multi-award winning project having won the Best Major Project at the Rail Industry Innovation Awards 2016; a Silver Green Apple Award for conservation and regeneration; a Business Award and Special Wildlife Prize at Stafford Borough Council’s Green awards. Kevin led the river realignments from concept through outline and detailed design. He was also the River Realignment Manager on site during construction.
