River Lambourn SSSI Restoration, Newbury (Completed Date: Nov 2009)

The Environment Agency employed Land and Water in November 2009 to restore the characteristics found in a natural chalk stream river. 2km of river were restored by tree and vegetation management to reintroduce light. River flow was increased, and the channel realigned using felled tree limbs. Excavated materials were used to improve conditions for fish spawning and other aquatic species.

River Kennet SSSI Restoration, Avington (Completed Date: Oct 2008)

In September 2008 Land and Water were employed by the Environment Agency to install two natural fish passes to allow passage within a controled and impounded section of waterway. Excavations for the fish passes were carried out under live river conditions with extensive measures to prevent silt migration. Large scale erosion control was also undertaken using pre-planted coir rolls. Restrictions on access due to water vole presence was overcome using our specialist fleet of LR excavators.

Land and Water are an award winning group of companies operating the largest fleet of long reach excavators and specialist dredging equipment in the UK.
