Priorities for UK Flood Resilience - Recognising Risk, Flood Management and Recovery
With a keynote address from Sarah Hendry, Director of Floods and Water, Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs
Just over 18 months on from the publication of the National Flood Resilience Review this forum will bring together key stakeholders to assess the progress made so far and the priorities for preparedness and recovery from flooding across the UK.
Attendees will examine how flooding can be more effectively predicted and managed, and communities supported through recovery, and the priorities for policy reform and investment for flood protection measures.
Key areas for discussion:
Recognising risk and planning for floods
Delegates will assess priorities for risk management and planning in relation to flooding, consider implications for insurance and protecting those in high-risk areas and discuss the impact of local authority budget cuts on local flood management initiatives.
Increasing resilience and flood management
Time will be allocated to discussing the latest developments in flood management, priorities for protecting critical infrastructure and the next steps for investment and innovation in flood protection.
Resilient Recovery
Developing a joined-up strategic approach to flood recovery, sharing best practice, learning from previous flooding incidents to improve response and recovery and ensuring adequate support for those affected by flooding.
