Postgraduate Water Management Online Module

Friday, November 24, 2017

The University of the Highlands and Islands' postgraduate module in Water Management will run in early 2018. This will be available through the existing MSc in Sustainable Mountain Development, as well as being available as a standalone module for those wishing to take the course as part of their continuing professional development (CPD). The fully online module will start on 29th January 2018 and will be delivered over 15 weeks. It is recommended that students allow at least 10 hours of study time per week.

Module Information

You can view information about the module here.

The module introduces the key concepts of water management, beginning with the natural physical processses and going on to examine the ways water is used as a resource from source to sea. We examine the key requirements of a healthy aquatic ecosystem and show how an understanding of the benefits provided by the water environment can help us meet our needs sustainably.

The module reflects the importance attached to water management in the UK and considers the way government, industry and wider society are involved in the management of key uses such as drinking water, hydropower and agriculture. We encourage professionals working in areas related to water management and regulation across the UK and Ireland to enrol.

The course is delivered in an online, flexible learning format, including PDFs, web pages and video recordings. Students participate in debates about water management on the course discussion board. It is an exciting opportunity for those wishing to learn about water management in the UK, and offers academic recognition for those already practising water management.

If you decide at a later date that you would like to apply for the full MSc course, then this 20 credit module will count towards it.
