Better Communication Needed to Realise Multiple Benefits of Urban Streams

It is essential to improve the way water-related issues are communicated to non-technical people if the multiple benefits of urban rivers and streams are to be realised, an independent environmental consultant has said.

Speaking at CIWEM’s urban rivers and streams conference, Dr Brian D’Arcy a former lead for SEPA on diffuse pollution, said: "We’ve got to find ways of getting technical messages out to non-technical people, the people who get council and board members interested." He added: "there is abundant evidence of the problems, but inadequate presentation of them to the public."
