This large Environment Agency restoration project consisted of a range of hard and soft engineering solutions. By channel narrowing and installation of woody debris we made this section of the Hampshire Avon SAC more resilient to low flows, and by formalising an existing breech and modifying hatches we improved fish passage.
This BBOWT project involved restoration of an urban section of the River Cherwell. Banks were re-graded, the channel narrowed and large amounts of woody debris installed to provide habitat in this impounded reach.
Five Rivers implemented this river restoration scheme designed and managed by Atkins to reinstate natural form and flow function to two kilometres of the River Wensum SSSI/SAC by utilizing site won materials. On this first year of a three year scheme we worked with Atkins and the Norfolk Rivers Internal Drainage Board to ensure we made best use of available materials giving maximum benefit for minimal cost. We worked closely with Atkins ecologists to ensure that all works were done sensitively with minimal impact.
