In early August 2017, SEPA published new and updated guidance related to flood risk and land use planning. Here SEPA explain more about the guidance, and why they believe taking account of flood risk in the planning process is so important.
News for: flood risk
The Welsh government is to invest £32m in capital funding to reduce flood risk to more than 2000 homes and businesses across Wales.
The funding, allocated for 2017-18, is the country's largest capital budget for flood risk management in recent years.
On February 8th, at Scotland's Annual Flood Risk Management Conference, SEPA launched a Flood Warning Development Framework for 2017-2021.
Last year Scotland experienced some of its most severe flooding with storms Desmond, Eva and Frank causing sustained and persistent rainfall from December 2015 into January 2016.
Flood forecasting and warning is an essential service to help communities be aware and prepared for flood events such as those witnessed last year, and can help reduce the impact which flooding has on people's lives.
