Riparian Tree Planting Grant Programme

£1.4m of new funding for tree-planting projects with a focus on the water environment this financial year.

This programme is competitive and will be prioritised by the EA, first at an area level and secondly on a national level. We will be prioritising projects based on the following criteria: - Confidence in ability to deliver by March 2021 - Contribution to improving water environment including WFD status, NFM etc. - Value for money - Scale, we will be looking for larger projects in the region of £50 – 95k.

Catchment Based Approach Triples Public Investment

The Catchment Based Approach (CaBA), the initiative to drive collaborative water management across England, has published its annual report that includes a summary of the environmental work undertaken by its 106 river catchment partnerships nationwide. The benefits arising include improvement of water quality, addressing flood risk and water scarcity and empowering local communities through citizen science.

CaBA Biodiversity Pack

Catchment Based Approach (CaBA) have put together a very useful and informative 'Biodiversity Pack'.

The 'CaBA Biodiversity Pack' has been produced to support catchment partnerships and others in their delivery of freshwater and wetland biodiversity projects.

Building on a host of existing habitat management guidance, the pack aims to:

1. Provide an ecological explanation of why natural ecosystem function is important to our freshwater and wetland wildlife; and
