The Freshwater Pearl Mussel, Margaritifera margaritifera, is classified as endangered on the IUCN Red List. Its greatest threats include loss of suitable habitat largely as a result of anthropological pressures. The FBA has reared juveniles from adult stock under controlled and enhanced conditions at their unique freshwater pearl mussel Ark, leading a 3-year national project to improve river conditions to reintroduce these juveniles to their native rivers.

Don't miss this chance to meet Freshwater Pearl Mussel and River Restoration experts from across Europe! Book your place - email FBA at: pearlmussel@fba.org.uk
