London Rivers Week is back for 2017!

After the success of the first London Rivers Week in 2016, Thames21 are planning to make the event bigger and better in 2017!

Running from Monday June 26th to Sunday July 2nd, we want to continue the celebration of London's rivers and to raise the profile of river restoration among the public, developers, politicians and policy makers alike.

The first London Rivers Week took place in 2016 to celebrate achieving the London Plan target of 15 kilometres of river restoration by 2015. It was a huge success, with 34 events across the week providing Londoners with opportunities to learn more about the city's rivers and to find out how they are being improved for people and wildlife.

The partners of London Rivers Week, run by the London Rivers Restoration Group, will be delivering public events, such as walks and talks at sites where restoration projects have been carried out. They will be running river related activities and flooding the social media airwaves with facts, photos and thoughts about river restoration in London.

London’s rivers are often peaceful, natural places, where we can escape city life. They are havens where we can relax by the water, watch swans nesting or if we’re lucky, spot a flash of blue as one of Britain’s most beautiful birds, a kingfisher, speeds across the water.

London Rivers Week aims to inspire people like you to take pride in our waterways, understand the challenges facing them, and unite to create a healthy future for our rivers.

All over the city, the London Rivers Restoration Group - the partnership behind London Rivers Week - is urging Londoners to reclaim, rescue and restore our rivers.

London Rivers Restoration Group is a sub-group of Catchment Partnerships in London.
