The IFM Specialist Conference 2016 - Farming and Fisheries

Date:
Tuesday, May 10, 2016 to Thursday, May 12, 2016
Location:
Rheged Centre, Penrith

The IFM has been holding its specialist conference each spring for the past 8 years. In that time it has covered a diverse range of subjects including screening fish at power stations, lamprey biology and conservation, rare species and forestry. Although these are niche topics they attract a range of specialist from the UK, Europe and further afield.

For 2016 the conference will be looking at agriculture, and the relationship with fisheries and wetlands in the UK and Ireland. There will be two days of formal presentations and networking followed by a field trip on the third day.

Here are the key topics for the conference:

  1. Soil management
  2. Ecological impacts of sediments
  3. Flood mitigation using farmland enhancement
  4. Management of livestock in the riparian zone
  5. Nutrient loss, impacts and management
  6. Abstraction and water management practice
  7. Issues in watercourse clearance.
